Warm Café

This project came about because of the concern for local people during the cold winter months almost 2 years ago when fuel prices rose to higher levels. A group of volunteers from the church planned what is now called the Warm Café. So every Tuesday for the last 18 months we have opened our church doors from 10am to 12 noon to offer, at no cost, tea, coffee, home baking and a warm place to chat for everyone in our community. Our Warm Café has continued to develop through offering free books at the front door. Most Tuesday mornings we have attracted thirty folk, some from our church family and some new friends from the community of Shawlands and beyond. A few of the new friends have now attended Sunday services and the Saturday Walking Group outings. Occasionally, some other visitors have seen the open church doors and dropped in simply to view the lovely sanctuary. The local Cooperative Funeral Care based in Shawlands approached the team of volunteers with a view to supporting the project through their community grants scheme. Thanks to them for the financial support and encouragement in helping us to outreach into the community. If you have never visited us on a Tuesday morning at the Warm Café, why not drop in any Tuesday and perhaps invite a friend or neighbour to join you? You will be assured of a warm welcome and warm hospitality.

Walking
As you may have heard, the date of our next outing (Sat 20th Apr) clashes with a BB Fundraising Event. This is unfortunate, but sometimes hard to avoid. If you are still planning to make the walk and also want to support the BB’s, please remember you can still make a very welcome donation to Simon McNeil (or via a marked envelope in the Sunday’s offering)!
Meanwhile, here is some basic information to help you decide. Further info to follow.

Edson will begin leading us in worship on Sun 4th February and until then the Worship Group will continue leading services.

New Audiovisual System
You are probably well aware that we have been having problems with the existing system for some time.
